Yes to Blueberries!

I grabbed the Yes to blueberries Age Refresh intensive Skin Repair and Yes to blueberries Age Refresh Smoothing Daily Cleanser at Walgreens when they offered some RRs and I had $4/1 or $2/1 off coupons.  It was a good deal for sure because they are pricier products.

I really want to like this line.  Cruelty free, paraben free, 99% natural...   And I do, to an extent.   Did I use them up, yes of course.  I'm not wasteful and they didn't cause me too many problems but let me explain...

I will start off with the Intensive Skin Repair Serum.

I was drawn to the claim that Organic Cotton Thistle helps to restore age-damaged skin.  Now I am going to be honest.  I didn't use this consistently, as in every morning and night, every day for x amount of days.  I started using it early summer 2011 and just finished it 2 days ago.

I mostly used this product in the morning after washing my face.  It absorbs after a couple of minutes and leaves the face fresh and a bit tight.  I would follow up with a moisturizer.  It didn't smell overtly of blueberries, maybe subtly, but not the artificial blueberry smell, just a light scent.  You only need a tiny amount to smooth over the skin.  The consistency is more like a gel than a cream, it feels like a serum.

I did like this product and all of it's wonderful ingredients, the smell and the feel of it.  It is pricey, $20 but it lasts a long time as you only need a 1/4 of a pump.  Did it give me a youthful appearance?  Honestly, no or nothing dramatic that I noticed.  I believe what you put into your body makes more of a difference for sure...

Now on the other hand, the Yes to blueberries Age Refresh Smoothing Daily Cleanser is awful, gross and yuck.  Same pleasent smell but this is a runny cream that leaves a thick waxy/oily film on the skin and face.  I couldn't stand using it.  In fact my first trial was with my Olay Pro-X Cleanser System and it ruined the brush head.  I had to purchase another one.  And yes, I was mad.  I tried it again with a face cloth and I just couldn't get the stuff of my hands.  I put it away for a couple of months and the took it out again to give it another go.

I changed the game plan.  I first washed my face to remove my make-up, followed up with the Yes to blueberries Age Refresh Smoothing Daily Cleanser then I used my LUSH Ocean Salt face and body cleanser to scrub off the film.  The film protected my skin from the abrasive salt scrub so I could use it daily.  On it's own, the salt scrub is just a little too harsh for my skin and I tend to use it maybe 2 days a week and scrub very gently.  I was able to scrub more vigorously after using the Age Age Refresh Smoothing Daily Cleanser thus getting better exfoliation.

So the combination of these 2 products worked for me!  But by itself, the cleanser just feels disgusting.

Will I re-purchase in 2012.  Possibly the Intense Skin Repair Serum, if of course I have a good coupon and a sale!  It retails for $19.99.  This is a bit pricey for my drugstore shopping experience as coupons are hard to come by for these products.  Actually right now there is a $3/1 floating around for a Walmart purchase of a Yes to Carrots product if you can find that one!
